Route notes
Today, we’ll take you on a guided tour of some of the most famous places in Kathmandu. You’ll visit Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Patan Durbar Square, and the famous Swoyambhunath (Monkey Temple), which sits on a small hill with a great view of the valley. In the evening, we’ll have a group meeting to brief you about the trip and enjoy a welcome dinner together. Meanwhile, we will also begin preparing your Chinese visa and Tibet travel permit
Route notes
Today is a warm-up ride around the hills of the Kathmandu Valley. It gives you time to get used to the motorbike and test everything. This day is also used as an extra day in case your Tibet visa takes more time. Our team will make sure your bike is ready and all paperwork is complete.
Route notes
We start our ride from Kathmandu and head north to the village of Timure, which is close to the Nepal–Tibet border. This route is scenic and peaceful, taking you through villages, forests, and hills. We’ll stay overnight near the border.
Route notes
In the morning, we ride to the Nepal-Tibet border at Rasuwagadhi. After finishing the immigration process on the Nepal side, we cross into Tibet. On the other side, our Tibetan guide will meet you and help with Chinese immigration. After entering Tibet, we ride to Gyirong (also called Kerung), a small border town where we’ll rest and spend the night to help our bodies adjust to the high altitude.
Route notes
Today we ride higher into the Tibetan Plateau. You’ll see amazing views of the snow-covered Himalayan mountains. On the way, you may see Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) and Mt. Shishapangma (8,012m). If the weather is clear, you might also get your first view of Mount Everest (8,848m). We’ll stay overnight in either Tingri or Lhatse.
Route notes
After breakfast, we ride toward Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Along the way, we cross Gyatchu La Pass (5,220m), the highest point on this route. From here, there is an option to take a side trip toward the holy Mt. Kailash if desired. In Shigatse, we’ll check in to our hotel and relax.
Route notes
In the morning, we visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, which is home to the Panchen Lama. Afterward, we ride to Gyantse, a charming town with deep historical and cultural importance. In Gyantse, we explore the beautiful Kumbum Stupa and the ancient Phalkor Monastery before spending the night.
Route notes
Today’s ride is one of the most beautiful of the trip. We cross high mountain passes like Karola (5,010m) and Kambala (4,749m) and stop to admire the amazing Yamdrok-Tso Lake with its deep blue waters. We also follow the Brahmaputra River (Yarlung Tsangpo), which is one of Tibet’s lifelines. By evening, we reach the sacred city of Lhasa and settle in for the night.
Route notes
We spend today exploring Lhasa’s top spiritual and cultural sites. You’ll visit the famous Jokhang Temple, the busy Barkhor Street market, and the grand Potala Palace, which was once the home of the Dalai Lama. We also visit Drepung and Sera monasteries—two of the largest and most important monasteries in Tibet. In the evening, you can enjoy free time in the old city.
Route notes
We say goodbye to Lhasa and ride back toward Shigatse using a different route through northern Tibet. This road is less crowded and gives a different look at the vast landscapes of the region. We’ll stay overnight in Shigatse.
Route notes
Today we ride from Shigatse to Tingri. The journey takes about 6 hours and offers stunning views of Tibet’s open skies, valleys, and mountain passes. We’ll pass through Gyatchu La Pass again before arriving in Tingri.
Route notes
This is one of the most exciting days of the trip. We ride to Rongbuk Monastery, which is the highest monastery in the world. From here, we continue riding to the North Everest Base Camp. Spend time enjoying the view of Mt. Everest up close, take photos, and absorb the moment before riding back to Tingri for the night.
Route notes
After breakfast, we start our ride back toward the Tibet–Nepal border. The road offers amazing scenery as we descend from the high plateau toward lower valleys. We’ll arrive in Kerung by evening and rest for the night.
Route notes
We complete the exit process on the Tibetan side, say goodbye to our Tibetan guide and crew, and re-enter Nepal through the Kerung border. From here, we ride back to Kathmandu. After reaching the city, we check into our hotel and celebrate the successful completion of the tour.
Route notes
After breakfast, we’ll take you to the airport for your flight home. If you want to explore more of Nepal, we can help you plan your next adventure.

Kailash planning works best when costs, route variants, and pilgrimage logistics are held together in one page. This guide is built for that.
Upper Mustang needs destination-led planning more than generic trekking copy. This page keeps permit logic, access, and route character together.
