Quick answer
Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. Also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, this trek in Nepal makes it possible for trekkers to get face-to-face with the 10th highest peak in the world, Annapurna I, and other prominent peaks in the Annapurna region that make Annapurna massif, like Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiun Chuli,Gandharwa Chuli, Annapurna III as well as Tharpu Chuli. Apart from the mountain views, the trekkers can enjoy a diverse landscape that ranges from the cityscape of Pokhara to the lush green forest (of mainly Rhododendron, Oak and Bamboo that support a variety of animal, bird and insect life) to the high altitude alpine meadows. The highest you will go on this trek is 4,130 meters. The landscape, the walking hours, the views, the distance and the altitude covered each day, all make this trek a perfect choice for all novice trekkers, solo travelers, groups with adventurous children and physically fit senior citizens.

Out of 6 days, 3 days will be used to hike all the way up to the base camp of the Annpaurna, 2 days to hike back down to Jhinu and 1 day to drive to Pokhara. The trail goes through Ghandruk, Chhomrong and Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp. After base camp, trekkers will retrace the steps to Chhomrong and then hike down to Jhinu to end the trek. You also have an option to drive to Jhinu and start the trek instead of Ghandruk.
Our Pokhara-Pokhara Annapurna Base Camp Trek package allows trekkers to book their own accommodation, transportation and other services in the cities as per their requirements and budget. A similar alternative for this package will be Pokhara to Pokhara Mardi Himal Trek. Moreover, if you’d like us to take care of everything from your arrival in Nepal to departure our 10 days Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek will be the perfect option for you. However, if you can add a few more days to the trek, you can also include Ghorepani-Poonhill to the itineary, which is considered the best view point in the entire Annapurna region to view the peaks that make the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. If you’d like more information on this trek please follow our 12 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Ghorepani and Poon Hill. But if you are only on a week long vacation 7 days Ghorepani-Poon Hill trek will be the best option for you. Nevertheless, if adding 2 more days is not a problem for you, we highly recommend Ghorepani-Poon Hill with Ghandruk Trek to experience the perfect blend of culture and nature.

Route notes
Your guide will come to pick you up at your hotel after breakfast. From your hotel, you will drive to Ghandruk in a private jeep to start your Pokhara to Pokhara short Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Your destination today is Chhhomrong, but you will first drive to Ghandruk to start the trek. Ghandruk is located roughly 32 kilometers north-west of Pokhara and the drive takes about 3 hours. Leaving Pokhara, you will drive to Nayapul on the Pokhara-Baglung Highway. The distance is about 14 kilometers. However, at Nayapul, you will leave the highway and take a right turn to continue north of Nayapul to go to Ghandruk. From here it’s about 18 kilometers drive, which is very scenic and interesting. Ghandruk is a culturally rich Gurung (ethnic group in Nepal) village, that along with a pristine culture presents stunning views of the Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna and Machhapuchhre to the trekkers. From Ghandruk you will commence your hike to Chhomrong located roughly 10 kilometers north-east of the village of Ghandruk. As you head up west from Ghandruk, you will come across a trail junction where the trail coming from Tadapani and the other one coming up from the Kimrong meet. Following the trail to Kimrong, you will continue down to Kimrong River enjoying the view of the wheat field, cross the bridge and hike up on a steep and strenuous trail to Chhomrong. Chhomrong is the last year-round settlement on the way to Annapurna Base Camp. In Chhomrong, you will check into the lodge and spend the rest of the time at leisure. Overnight in a lodge in Chhomrong. Please note: You also have an option to drive to Jhinu 4h and trek to Chhomrong or Sinuwa, instead of driving to Ghandruk. Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Route notes
Breakfast at the lodge and you will start your roughly 13 kilometer trek to Deurali. An average hiker will take about 6-7 hours to complete this journey. From Chhomrong, you will start by descending down to cross the bridge over the Chhomrong River following the stone-paved trail. After crossing the river you will ascend to Sinwa that offers distant but prominent views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre and Hiun Chuli. You will now enter the lush forest of Rhododendron, Oak and Bamboo on a trail that now runs parallel to the Modi River all the way up to the Machhapuchhre Base Camp. The trail from Sinuwa to Bamboo is fairly easy. It ascends to Kuldighar and descends to Bamboo. From Bamboo, it's a long descent on a steep series of steps. In this section, you will also cross a few rickety bridges over small streams that run down to meet the Modi River. Soon you will reach Dovan. Enjoy the amazing views of the cascading waterfall. Soon, you will cross a place called Himalaya and enter avalanche risk zone and rougher terrain of trek. From here, you will reach Deurali, your overnight stop in no time. In Deurali, you will check into the hotel and spend the remaining time relishing the views and resting in your lodge. Please note: At this place the lodges are very limited in number and these lodges only provide dorm rooms. Therefore, you will spend the night in a dorm room and share the room with more than one person. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Route notes
Today you will finally reach the destination of the trek, that is, the Annapurna Base Camp, located roughly 6 kilometers from Deurali. It takes about 5 hours to complete this journey, for an average hiker. Like any other day, you will start after breakfast and leave Deuarli and hike further to Machhapuchhre Base Camp, continuing on the avalanche risk zone. Deurali to Bagar is an easy hike, however, from Bagar onwards, the trail grows strenuous all the way up to the Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700m). Enjoy a 360 degree panorama that includes Machhapuchhre, Gandharwa Chuli, Annapurna III, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiun Chuli, and Tharpu Chuli. This view walks along with you all the way up to the Annapurna Base Camp. From Machhapuchhre Base Camp, the trail heads west. The trail now runs parallel to the lateral moraine of the South Annapurna Glacier. Soon you will reach the Annapurna Base Camp. You will check into the lodge and spend the remaining time either resting at the lodge, or walking to the nearby areas to view the Annapurna Mountains from different nearby viewpoints. Overnight in a lodge at the base camp. Please note: At this place the lodges are very limited in number and these lodges only provide dorm rooms. Therefore, you will spend the night in a dorm room and share the room with more than one person. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Route notes
Wake up before sunrise and enjoy the mountain sunrise view from the base camp. It’s a breathtaking sight and you will want to capture every second until the sun rises high up above the mountains. After enjoying the view, you will have your breakfast and start your day’s journey, which is roughly 12.5 kilometers down to Bamboo. You will retrace your steps all the way down to Bamboo bidding farewell to the beautiful sanctuary. Leaving the sanctuary and the beautiful alpine landscape behind, today you will enter back to the forested area of the trail. A 6-7 hour hike will bring you down to Bamboo, where you will check into the lodge for overnight stay and rest the remaining hours of the day. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Route notes
Today you will hike down to Jhinu, located roughly 8 kilometers south of Bamboo. The hike takes about 5 hours. After breakfast, from Bamboo, continuing through the lush forest of Rhododendron, Oak and Bamboo, you will retrace your steps all the way down to Chhomrong. At Chhomrong the trail to Jhinu forks south east from the Annapurna Base Camp trek trail. Continuing on this trail you will hike down to Jhinu. About 15-20 minutes downhill walk from Jhinu, near the bank of Modi River lies a natural hot spring. If you want to relax your muscles, your guide will take you to this hot spring to take a relaxing dip. You will then get back to the lodge for overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Route notes
Breakfast at the lodge in Jhinu and you will hike down to the vehicle station from where you will drive to Pokhara. The drive back to Pokhara is about 4 hours and it’s a very scenic drive. In Pokhara, you will be dropped back to your hotel ending the 6 days Pokhara to Pokhara Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Amigo Treks and Expedition. Meals: Breakfast
